   I connect conferences with a lot of pressure, because I have been interpreting at some. Only after that I can leasurely think about the topic.

   I like conferences …
   I like conferences as long as the seats are reasonably comfortable. But if they are not, I end up wishing I had stayed home.

   I thought abstracts …
   I thought abstracts (when speaking about papers and reports) were more of a summary of a completed dissertation rather than an idea (an abstraction in the mind).

   hey Fred, your description of the “barbed” comments during the question and answer point of a conference made me fearful to be at one. I feel the same way about some kinds of humor as well, its hard to be present during something that might feel like “conflict”. I wanted to say “hi” as well, I have been on vacation on the oregon coast, ICharmaine and I wanted to make some beach art for you but only ended up saying how much we loved your work while we made a MLV. yours Earl
