This is the promo video for the 2009 Steubenville Summer Youth Conferences that happen at 19 different locations across the nation and are attended by over 50,000 high-schoolers ever summer.
The theme this summer is “Above All” and is taken from 1 Chronicles 29:11:
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.
Enjoy and contact your local youth minister for more details of when and where the nearest conference is to you.

If I were to ask a …
If I were to ask a handful of these youths if there is salvation outside of the Catholic Church what would they say?

…However, without that experience, however much it damaged me in making me seek constantly after consolations, I would not have changed my life around. I wouldn’t even pray regularly. Steubenville caused me to commit to Christ and become fully passionnate about Him.

Hm…well, I am a youth that went to a conference this summer so I think I can share my experience: had the most amazing (and emotional) experience of my life. My life completely changed. However, although they told us that we would endure hard times and that what we felt at Steubie wouldn’t last forever, I left not fully believing that and ended up desperately searching for and failing to find the same joy that I felt. It seriously messed me up for several months.

Hmm. Right now, I’m …
Hmm. Right now, I’m debating if you’re on my side or not. I’m not Catholic, I am a Apostolic Pentacostal. This is the religion that speaks the truth.

No. Jesus finds …
No. Jesus finds this beutiful. We are praising his holy name name lifting him up. If you were to come to a thing like this, you would feel his presence so much, you to would learn that you were wrong.

I am sad to hear …
I am sad to hear this. I am only at a young age but I can see what this world is coming to. I’m not trying to sound like a freak or anything, but the end times are near. If you were to alow yourself to go to a Apostolic Pentacostal Church, and were to take enough time to live for the one and only God, Jesus, then you would be blessed beyond what you can even amagine. Srry, not good speller.

We lift are hands …
We lift are hands up to praise the one and only God, Jesus. Another thing is that were are not delusional. If you were to alow yourself to go to an Apostolic Pentacostal Church, you would feel the presence of the lord, my Father.

You obviously aren’t Catholic, so why were you even watching this video? If you can’t have the dignity to respect somebody else’s beliefs, you really shouldn’t even be talking about religion at all. I’m Catholic because I believe that Catholicism is right, otherwise I might be Jewish, Muslim, etc. Anyway, I’m done with this argument, there is obviously no point in continuing with somebody who isn’t open to this.

What does adoration …
What does adoration have to do with Jesus? What does believing in a piece of bread have to do with the workings and teachings of Jesus? Nothing, at this event you are brainwashed, I don’t know how any logical person can’t see that. Jesus would be against the worshipping of bread, Si.
I highly doubt you do. Tell me why you are a Christian and not a Buddhist or Muslim or a Jew ect. They are really not that different from each other. Those 3 also share the common story characteristic of dualism.

It’s not a concert at all, praise and worship is a very small part of the experience, its a two day event, where you visit workshops, attend mass, go to adoration, listen to talks, and for a teenager, it is probably the first experience that you ever have with God like this, and if Jesus would be against it, why was he there at adoration or at mass? I also know quite a bit about my beliefs compared to that of other religions, so please don’t make generalizations.t

What does a concert have to do with learning about faith? That is the point. How much do you know about Christianity compared to Judaism, Islam or eastern religions like Hinduism or Buddhism? Can you ask questions about your religion?
What was so life changing? It’s just disturbing. Jesus would be against an event like this.

hey, im cool that …
hey, im cool that you feel like that, i dont hav anything against your opinion, but i think that your missing the point of this event. It isn’t to “entertain” the participants, it is a gathering in faith and worship, helping others go further in faith, discern vocations, or maybe find out about religion for the first time. It was incredibly lifechanging for me. Just a little FYI.

I really can’t …
I really can’t believe what I’m seeing here. I see people being selfish and the video perpetuates this selfishness. I would like to know how a ridiculous event, like this, is funded. Because I really think that people should give their money to the poor, (not the church here, because they will just spend it on a light show) to live by Jesus’s example to actually experience him. That is the most logical example to me if you’re a catholic.
I feel you are brain washing people an it disturbs me

Not for youth who …
Not for youth who are in the middle of ‘finding’ themselves, so to speak. To enrich a mind and heart with the Truth is amazing, but to allow the wisdom to stay there is more easily said than done. I’ve been to many retreats, trying to feel God because that’s what they taught in my Parish. Holding hands at the ‘Pater Noster’, Giving hugs at the sing of peace RIGHT in the middle of the Holy Mass. Has anyone been to a Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica? Now THAT is something else..
