How do you present a motion to conference? What kind of wording should it have?

I need to present a motion to the Friends of the Earth conference about overpopulation, and I can’t think how to start. It should mention the environmental impact of humans, the reluctance of Governments to abandon the economic model of constant exponential growth that is unsustainable and the prospect of Peak Oil limiting our capacity to produce enough food for the current population, never mind any more mouths to feed.

Any ideas?

A common first speaking assignment is the one-point speech, in which the speaker’s task is to establish only one main idea (the thesis). This type of speech requires a thesis that is clear and simple, and it is developed as follows:

Introduction
1. Wake up!
2. This concerns you.
3. Generally speaking

As indicated, the first three steps enact the introduction to the speech. "Wake up!" is the device to get the audience’s attention, such as an interesting story, a startling statistic, or an unexpected fact. "This concerns you" shows listeners how the topic relates to them; it gives them reason to pay attention and to take the speech seriously. "Generally speaking" states the thesis of the speech.

"Generally speaking" also forms a natural transition to the body of the speech, represented by the heading "For example." The body develops the thesis by presenting whatever supporting materials are needed to support the claims in the thesis—experiences, stories, facts, and opinions, arranged in whichever order is most effective. Can you purchase a conference phone that is both digital and analog?

My analog conference phone will not work when attached to a digital system. I know you can buy a converter, but can you buy a conference phone that is both digital and analog.

How can I find out favorite foods from the Southeastern conference?

I am trying to make a Menu of foods from the Southeastern Conference for a Preseason tailgate party. I would like to make a bunch of sandwiches that represent each Southeastern conference school. I would like to know what are the "specialty" foods from each school.

Call them and ask. You give no specific locations or schools, so how the heck are we to know what is what; what’s the specialty foods of the midwest of America? There about 10,000 or more for the whole region that I know of. Good luck with you quest.

What types of companies are using conference calling today?

I would like to know what types of companies are using reservationless calling these days? Are companies using GoToMyPC for web conference calling, today with so many options is there a market for reservationless calling at a low rate (Lower than AT&T etc) ?
Any feedback or personal experience with conference calling would be appreciated….i.e. what type of company you work for and if it is a service you use…Basically I dont want to be ripped off when you can conference differently thanksss

What to wear to an archaeology conference dinner?

Hey everyone,

I’m going to my first archaeology conference. There will be a dinner tomorrow night and I’m wondering if anyone knows how dressy people usually get at conference dinners? Skirts, slacks, jeans?

Thanks for the help! I’m going to be at the conference all day so I have to bring everything with me which is why I can’t ask people once I get there tomorrow.

I would definitely dress in at least business attire. I used to have to go to Real Estate conferences and the ladies all wore skirt outfits or business dresses to the dinner. I would even say if you have a pants/jacket business outfit, that would be fine, but make sure it’s classy. Can’t go wrong with a skirt, button blouse and jacket set. Have fun! THese things are always a blast!

What is the difference between a conference paper and a regular paper?

I have to write a conference paper for my 1st year English class and having never written one before, I really don’t know what I am doing.

There are length restrictions on conference paper
because the writer will present it and additional
information if any needed will be provided in the
conference if some one asks.

Regular paper intended for publication in a journal
needs all the information and references based
on which it will either be accepted or rejected.
