Google Internet Summit 2009: The State of the Internet
May 5, 2009

Security Session panelists are Whit Diffie, Steve Crocker, Chris DiBona, Eric Grosse, and Howard Schmidt.

On May 5 and 6, 2009, in Mountain View, we brought together Googlers and leaders from academia and the corporate world for a 2-day summit to discuss the state of the global Internet. The goal of the summit was to collect a wide range of knowledge to inform Google’s future plans–from product development and market reach to users’ expectations and our ability to keep the Internet open yet secure.

More than 30 speakers and moderators led discussions around 8 topics: Networks; Wireless and Sensor Technologies; Security; Standards; Applications; Democracy, Law, Policy and Regulation; Search and Cloud Computing; and The Future. Eric Schmidt, who offered some remarks, expressed optimism that the challenges we face with governments’ walling off access to the Internet can be overcome technologically by building networks that are transparent, scalable, and open.

http://anotherperfectworld.submarine.nl/
Another Perfect World is a documentary about digital utopias, about online worlds created as places for work, play, friendship and love.

People have always created utopias, worlds that reflect the greatest, most enlightened and noble ideas of the period in which they live. The utopias of the future will be created online, in digital worlds capable of rendering photo-realistic depictions of whatever the mind can imagine with technologies that allow people from around the world to join in. We now have the chance to build a new world from scratch.

If you were going to do so, on which principles would you establish it? What is more important: freedom of expression; an active marketplace to encourage social interaction; or laws to define the limits of social relations?

Another Perfect World is a production of http://www.submarine.nl

RESVERATROL! 60 Minutes

60 Minutes Story – Part 2 – Continuation of other video on our Resveratrol YouTube Channel.

Resveratrol has been tested on mice and the results have been encouraging. In a test-video provided by Sirtris, two mice were fed a high fat diet for 12 weeks. But when placed on a treadmill, one mouse ran twice as far. He was given high concentrations of resveratrol.

“You have fat mice, and you have fat mice with resveratrol. And the ones that are on resveratrol, they can run twice as far, and they live longer, about 20 percent longer,” Sinclair says.

Other studies showed that among mice fed a high fat diet, those taking resveratrol didn’t gain as much weight as those not given the drug. Sinclair believes that resveratrol actually changes the physiology of the mice.

The proof, he says, is in the post-mortems. “Their organs looked pristine, youthful, fat-free, and their physiology was just like they were dieting. But they were fat.”

Convinced that they were on the right path, they fast-tracked the resveratrol based drug into human trials on people with untreated diabetes. The results were impressive: it significantly lowered glucose and insulin levels, without the patients changing their diet or taking any other drugs.

I’m looking for a conference center in seattle washington?

Posted on May 28th, 2010 by admin in conference centers | 6 Comments »

We’re needing a conference center/hotel that has wifi and will Accommodate 120 to 150 people. We’d like to be pretty close to the University of Seattle. There’s still plenty of time since its not needed until end of 09. Can anyone give me some good suggestions?

It depends on the class of hotel and what your budget is. It also depends on the size of the group that you have. Personally I have worked for the Paramount Hotel Seattle in downtown Seattle and have known people that worked for Hyatt along with Sheraton Seattle. Most hotels in downtown Seattle are great. They are geared towards groups and meetings along with equipped with wireless. I can’t think of a hotel in the downtown Seattle area that isn’t wireless equipped.

Now another question would be are you going to be having just meeting rooms or will you be doing sleeping rooms also? That will also determine the hotel that you use for your meeting. If you email me the answers to some of the questions that I asked then I would be glad to assist further in recommending a hotel for your group. Hope the information helps!
